Patient Care Units

Medical/Surgical Unit (MedSurg)

KCH’s MedSurg is a 26-bed unit that provides care to both medical and surgical patients.

We care for patients of all ages – pediatric to geriatric.

Care is provided by and/or under the direction of Registered Nurses with the assistance of Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants and ward clerks.

This unit is a combination of acute, swing bed and observation patients.

Patients have general as well as specialty surgery such as orthopedic and bariatric surgery at KCH.

Monitoring and interventions are provided for patients at risk for altered skin integrity, falls and pneumonia.

Multidisciplinary teams comprised of Social Services/Discharge Planning, Dietary and Rehab Services meet to discuss patient needs and plan of care.
