KCH Expands Partnership with Helpmates, Inc. with In-Home Personal Care and Services

A decade-long partnership between Kane Community Hospital and Helpmates, Inc. (home-based in Ridgway) is growing to include the non-medical home care needs for KCH patients.

Prior to this new venture, Kane Community Home Health Care and Helpmates, Inc. have worked together to provide skilled nursing care for their patients based on where they live. KCH patients in Ridgway, for example, often chose Helpmates home nurses for their medical care needs and Helpmates, Inc. patients from the immediate Kane Area found a trusted relationship with KCH Home Health Care.

At a recent meeting of leaders of both organizations, plans were forged to expand to non-medical, personal care options for KCH patients and their families through Helpmates, Inc. throughout the KCH service area.

Personal care often begins when skilled nursing care ends. The non-medical services help patients settle back into their homes after hospital or short term rehabilitation and assist them with personal care and non-medical home care needs temporarily or provide long-term in support of patients with activities of daily living.

Non-medical in-home care services include (but are not limited to) assistance with personal care, home support services, running errands, companionship and respite care.

Non-medical in-home care services are coordinated on an individual basis according to the needs of the consumer. Services are available on an hourly basis, from 1 hour a day up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Helpmates, Inc. staff members are thoroughly trained to provide care in a safe, secure and appropriate manner, have had background checks, and are bonded and insured.

Residents in McKean and Elk Counties now have a trusted resource for non-medical home care. To learn more about the services available call 1-888-772-6850 or talk to your KCH Home Health Care nurse.

For years Kane Community Hospital has partnered with Helpmates, Inc. to sponsor KCH & Helpmates, Inc. Multiphasics in Ridgway, in much the same way KCH partners with Rotary in other KCH hospital-based clinic locations in McKean, Elk, Warren counties.

This year Helpmates, Inc. will mark their 25th anniversary of serving and caring for the people of Ridgway and surrounding communities. Kane Community Hospital has served the Kane and surrounding communities for 84 years and is an affiliate of UPMC Hamot.
