Dale Rolls Receives Certification in Echocardiography

Dale Ostrander, Manager, Cardiac Lab at Kane Community Hospital announced that KCH’s “Dale Rolls recently passed the practical registry exam to become a Registered Echocardiography Technologist.  This registry exam is deemed to be very challenging and candidates who pass are considered to be very committed to a sonography career.”

This is the second of a two-part exam administered by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  The first test was Ultrasound Physics, which he successfully completed last year.  Dale is now a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).

Pam Bray, RN, Director of Nursing/Director of Inpatient Services, indicated that “Dale's certification is the first step for accreditation of the Echocardiogram program at KCH.  The next step in the process is the development of policies and procedures in collaboration with UPMC and UPMC Hamot's Non Invasive Cardiac Services Department.”

The certifying body for accreditation is the ICAEL, Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiolography Laboratories.  The goal of this commission is to ensure high quality patient care and high quality echocardiographic imaging and interpretation by the accredited facility.  All technologists and physicians working in the echocardiogram program must attain and maintain certain standards for acquiring images, and interpreting images, through continuing education and conferences.

Dale has worked at KCH for more than twenty years. He is also a Paramedic with EmergyCare.

Please join the KCH Family in congratulating Dale on this great professional accomplishment and for helping accreditation of the Kane Community Hospital program.
