KCH Gets Smart Infusion Technology with New IV Pumps

KCH Gets Smart Infusion Technology with New IV Pumps

Here (l-r)  KCH nurses Tina DePalma-Johnson, RN and Melanie Selan, RN, of the Acute Care Unit at KCH, explain the patient safety benefits of one of 20 newly acquired Alaris IV pumps.

These pumps feature smart infusion technology that can dramatically reduce medication errors and allow facilities to continually monitor their medication practices, helping to ensure that patient safety is not compromised.

The Alaris System with Guardrails® Suite MX Software is the industry-leading infusion safety solution. Guardrails® double checks total dose and duration of medications and allows for continuous uploading of the latest drug parameters.

The integration of these pumps is part of work KCH Nurses are doing to enhance processes and procedures to improve patient safety.  The pumps are being used in all Nursing Units.
