Employees Enjoy Appreciation Day at KCH
On Friday, May 6, Employees at Kane Community Hospital, an affiliate of UPMC Hamot, enjoyed a day of special events with a "Friends of KCH' Book and Gift Sale, Employee Bake Sale as well as the greatly anticipated annual grilled steak/stuffed chicken employee appreciation dinner.
The incredible KCH Dietary team produced another in a long line of celebratory events. KCH Director of Operations Mark Papalia and KCH CEO and Vice President of UPMC Hamot did the grilling at the Gazebo in the Gardens at KCH.
At 11 a.m. Pastor Craig Smith, a volunteer chaplain at KCH, conducted a moving "Blessing of the Hands" ceremony at the newly renovated employee entrance to the hospital. KCH Maintenance did the renovation and local artist Nancy Tomaski glazed the walls and painted vines and berries to create a warm welcome for employees arriving at work.
Employees received T-shirts with new KCH, an affiliate of UPMC Hamot, logo and were permitted to wear jeans if they paid for the privilege. Proceeds from the employee Bake Sale and Wear Jeans Day go toward Employee Action Team projects at the Hospital.
Employees at KCH clinics outside of Kane -- in Mt. Jewett, Johnsonburg, Ridgway and Sheffield -- had their meals made to order and delivered by hospital staff.
Today began a weeklong National Nurse's Week. And on Thursday, May 12 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. the Hospital will host an Open House featuring the comprehensive KCH Center for Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation and Pain Management. The public is invited to tour the KCH Center and the Zimmer Mobile Learning Center that will be onsite for the day. Both will be located directly across from the Hospital on Route 6 West, Kane. Those attending will be able to meet KCH's new Orthopaedic Surgeon, Vasileios Kostopoulos, MD, PhD and Pain Management Specialist Asit Patel, MD and staff and will enjoy refreshments throughout the day.
