KCH to host Open House May 14

Kane Community Hospital will host an Open House Friday, May 14, 1-4 p.m., during National Hospital Week.

During the event the public is invited to tour KCH’s leading edge diagnostic imaging center.  Don’t miss the opportunity to see why so many call KCH a “hidden treasure.”

Among the sites on tour at KCH’s all-digital imaging center are the mammography suite, new MRI suite, and the modalities of KCH’s Breast Health Center.

KCH will offer free Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) Screenings to those interested. An ABI is a simple non-invasive test that uses ultrasound to measure the ratio of the blood pressure in your ankle to that in your arm. This ratio may indicate a potential vascular problem.

Triple board certified radiologist Jamil Sarfraz, M.D. and Janet Brunner, Manager of the Center and Lab will be on hand with imaging staff to greet you and answer questions.

An educational exhibit on breast health will be featured on the tour.  Cookies and punch will be served.

KCH’s Diagnostic Imaging Center is the leading diagnostic center in the area.  Along the tour you will see a high field, 1.5T short-bore MRI; multipurpose all-digital X-ray, fluoroscopy, chest system; dual-head nuclear medicine camera; digital mammography; ultrasound, full body bone densitometry; 32 slice CT (computed tomography); and stereotactic breast biopsy.

KCH also has a Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) and additional diagnostic modalities located throughout the KCH health system including at the KCH Cardiac Lab, PET/CT at Hamot Medical Park in Johnsonburg, a service of KCH; and capsule endoscopy performed at Summit Medical Park by general surgeon Renato Simon, M.D.

Kane Community Hospital (KCH), an affiliate of Hamot Health Foundation, has served residents and guests of the Alleghenies for over 80 years.  KCH is a 31-bed acute care hospital with a five-bed ICU, 24-hour Hamot physician-staffed ER, a system of five, hospital-based physician clinics in Kane, Mt.
